Who is Red Dog Designs?
Honestly? Red Dog is actually "Corey", the coolest "shop" dog who always greets our clients with a wagging tail. Business wise, Eric Lawson is the Boston-based design principal behind Red Dog Designs. Originally from the Washington, DC area, Eric's early interest was in architecture, studying three years of Mechanical Drafting at DeMatha Catholic H.S., pre-architecture at Prince Georges College, and returning years later to study AutoCAD, Accounting, Advertising and Sales Promotion, and MS Office at Delaware Technical College.
Over the years, he parlayed his hobbies in high-end home and car audio, sound-off competitions, import drag racing, auto-x, road racing, and graphic design into several career opportunities working as Performance Parts Manager for two different Honda/Acura dealerships in Connecticut and Delaware, and Customer Service Manager for a German speaker manufacturer in Massachusetts, all the while competitively campaigning a 1993 Pro All-Motor Drag Honda Civic Hybrid in NHRA, IDRC, and BOTI drag racing events, SCCA auto-x racing events, and IASCA sound-off events all over the United States.
Along the way, he dabbled in graphic design as far back as Corel Draw 3 and developed an interest in corporate identity, branding, advertising, and marketing. He continuously found himself to be more involved and interested in the image and identities of the companies he was employed by and working with. Many of these positions involved Eric working with designers to develop corporate identities, logos, brochures, advertising campaigns, catalogs, tee shirts and more. Eventually he decided to parlay that interest into a career by opening a sign & graphics business, Red Dog Designs, in Lewes, Delaware in 2005. Red Dog Designs was quickly recognized as a provider of appealing and effective, high quality signs & graphics with a growing list of repeat clients.
Running a sign & graphics business was such a rewarding experience to Eric, being able to be involved with customers, helping bring their visions to life, that he decided to pursue additional training and returned to college at The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University (CDIA @ BU). After graduating from the Graphic and Web Design Program, he realized that he enjoyed the return to the Boston area and decided to remain and continue freelancing and to pursue career opportunities.
Eric's interests include but are not limited to soccer, tennis, basketball, football, mountain & road biking, custom cars & trucks, automotive lifestyle & racing, beach, surf, & skating lifestyle, home & car audio, traveling, architecture, computers, and more.
